About the event
Hey, we’re a band called Rock Yacht. What do we do? Well, we specialize in yacht rock. What the hell is that? We’ll let Wikipedia tell you:
Yacht rock is a broad music style commonly associated with soft rock, which was one of the most commercially successful genres from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. Drawing on sources such as soul, smooth jazz, R&B, and disco, common stylistic traits include high-quality production, clean vocals, and a focus on light, catchy melodies. As a result of its incorporation in soundtracks of recent films, especially the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, this genre is also popular with younger audiences.
Some of the artists we cover include America, the Doobie Brothers, Hall and Oates, Seals and Crofts, and Steely Dan. We include some seminal one hit wonders and the groovy sounds and mellow tunes that never fail to please. Did you dig the songs in Guardians of the Galaxy? Of course you did. And so do we!
The Band:
Pedro Arbour: Drums, Vocals. A multi-instrumentalist with a substantial musical rèsumè, Pedro is a member of Groove Kitchen and The Sutcliffes, as well as a former member in numerous collectives.
